I started by trying to find a base, which is nothing more than a plastic 4 " and 5
" flower pot. Now finding this was not easy. I searched all over and finally found mine at a florist shop. So if your going to make these I
would keep my eye out for cool looking flower pots.
So after you have the Pots, You need to cut off the bottom of the pot. I used a razor knife.
This make a smooth cut. The important thing here is to make sure you make a nice straight cut.
Now you will need to stiffen the pot up. I recommend plaster of Paris for the bottom 1
" to 1-1/2 " of the base, and the expanding foam for the rest..
The plaster not only helps stiffen the pot but also will act as a weight to hold the trophy
up-right.
So mix up some plaster, and pour it in the bottom 1 " to 1-1/2 " .
Let harden, this should take about an hour.
Foam the rest. Remember this is expanding foam, so it will probably foam out the top some
this is ok, but don't let it foam down the sides. or you will have ruined the base.
Let this harden at least over night.
You will than need to cut out an inverted cone from the foam. so the ball will fit snug to the rim.
Now paint them silver, and apply 2-3 coats of clear paint.
